Before taking this medication, my knees and legs were in constant, extreme pain. After a year of this (no side effects), I have a small amount of occasional pain. I believe alendronate has been very beneficial. I am thrilled with my successful outcome!

My doctor prescribed this drug for osteoporosis. I took it 3 times, once per week, and then stopped. My doctor thinks I'm still taking it, but I'm not....because from the beginning, I just "KNEW" this stuff was POISON. And after reading the many, many reviews about the HORRIFIC side-effects of this CRAP, I will NEVER even touch this stuff, EVER again. Someone should start a class-action suit!!...

I started taking this medication because I had slipped into Osteoporosis. I followed the directions to the letter, which was kind of a hassle. My problem was that I started this persistent cough, that was so disruptive that I had to stop phone conversations and personal conversations constantly. It took me quite awhile to conclude that the Fosamax was the cause for my cough. I tried taking it again for one more week (one pill) and my cough immediately worsened. It has been a year and my cough was almost gone, I wish I would not have tried it again!Read More Read Less

Since I started taking Aldronate 3 years ago, I've gone from a so-so bone density scan to osteopenia to osteoporosis and have shrunk 3" in height. Can't see that it is doing anything at all for me. My dentist cringes each time he asks me if I still take it.

At age 60, I am not a pill taker or someone who runs to the doctor at the first sniffle, but faithfully submit to yearly physicals and diagnostic tests such as mammograms, colonoscopy, etc. When routine tests showed opsteopinia followed by osteoporosis two years later my doctor prescribed this drug. I've been on it 3 months now and am experiencing severe hip pain, moderate to severe shoulder pain, and constant back pain, the likes of which I have never felt before. My instincts tell me to quit it and roll the dice rather than complain and get myself in the medical spiral of more meds and diagnostic testing. No easy answer here, but I am not a believer in this drug. Read More Read Less

I have sensitive teeth and after only 2 pills I feel like the teeth came down to grind and it is painful. The filling of the teeth are bothering me a lot. Constipation one morning and the morning I take the pill, I have diaereses so bad, I can't make it to the bathroom. I used to take Boniva for years, no problem. The new doctor wanted me to change.

I have been taking alendronate 70 mg for 6 weeks and have experienced itching on and around my breasts. I have sinus drainage in the mornings and it feels as if the pill sticks in my esophagus no matter how much water I drink. I am not sure if I will continue this drug or not.

I have burning feet, leg and back pain ever since I started taking Alendronate. I was previously taking Actonel with no side effects, but it became too expensive to take.

I have been taking Alendronate for almost 1 year. I dread taking this med. every Sunday morning. I have a lingering taste of it afterwards. I have no energy, most joints are stiff and achey and terrible itchy skin. Due for a followup next month.

I started taking Alendronate innov of '09 and by Jan '10 i developed debilitating back pain which continues to this date. I have rolled in the floor in tears and have been suicidal. I recently for found something that now gives some relief. Have had difficulty getting any doctor to figure out what the problem was or the solution. I have found th answers on my onw...but it has been such a long hard road and so many days of wishing life would just end.
