My family Doc noticed my ugly, thick, yellow toenails during a routine physical. He asked me if I would mind taking a Lamisil tablet once daily for one month to have normal nails again. I was ecstatic, hoping that I could once again wear sandals in public. After finishing the meds, I noticed that my toenails were changing back to normal. Today they are the same as when I was a teenager! But wait, ...

After taking the generic form of Lamisil for 44 days food suddenly tasted very bad, like salty, metallic, pasty. Even water tastes AWFUL, I am so miserable, I stopped taking the medication on day 45. Still have no improvement in taste. Two family members have taken this drug w/o a problem. I guess it'd just a chance you will have to decide for yourself if it is worth the risk of losing your taste. You may say to yourself, "how bad can it be to lose your taste" I am here to tell you its BAD, VERY BAD. I never understood when my dad didn't want to eat because he said everything tasted bad, now I do and wish he was here so I could say I'm sorry for not understanding and nagging him to eat. I guess there is one upside... I'm sure to drop a few pounds.Read More Read Less

Six weeks into a twelve weeks treatment I had to stop taking this due to side effects: extreme fatigue, depression, toe joints ached and finally I developed a rash on my face that looked like a chemical burn. My large toe on one foot has toe nail fungus and as of stopping the medication midway thru treatment I have seen no change or improvement.

I've been dealing with jock itch for several months. After failed attempts of homeopathic options (like peppermint oil) I got a month's supply of oral Lamisil. 27 days in and I've only just begun seeing a slight reduction in redness. Plus I'm now getting a constant itching on my skin, especially my scalp. Worried I'll have to extend my prescription as I don't foresee this clearing up by end of the week.

This is my 2nd time using this. It works but the fungus comes back after about a year or so. I take 1 pill per day for last 7 day a month for 6 months. It does clear up nails just wish it was for good.

I've suffered from tinea capitis for a long time, this drug has worked like a charm. I used it for 28 days once daily without any side effects. By the end of the month, the fungal test came back -ve.

I'm taking the generic Lamisil called Terbinafin HCL for athletes foot and toenail fungus. I take one pill that isn't big at all and easy to swallow. I've been taking it for 30 days and within 2 weeks of taking it my feet are already cleared up and smooth and seems to be free of athletes feet. I'm amazed at that alone!! It's too soon to tell on my nails but I see a line what looks to be new nail growing but it's hard to tell right now. I read the reviews on here before taking and was seriously contemplating not taking it because some of the reviews and reactions are pretty scary but I went for it any way and I have not had any side affects mentioned in the reviews, although, I'm not sure if this is related to the medication but, It seems my right hip socket has to pop frequently. Like you crack your knuckles, except it's my hip...weird, I know, and it may not even be related. I will review in 30 more days around 10/12/2014Read More Read Less

Please be careful with the oral version of Lamisil/terbinafine. Although the topical creams seems to be quite safe and effective, I experienced bad stomach cramps after just a week of taking this for a chronic tinea corporis fungal infection on my leg (similar to ringworm, but just a large patch of dry, red skin). I had to stop taking it, it felt quite toxic, and it hadn't made much improvement in that time. After previously trying numerous topical creams etc., what eventually worked was drinking about 100ml of beetroot juice (red beet) a day, over the course of about a month. The improvement was astonishing.Read More Read Less

Although I feel my nails are healthier after a 6 week course, I have developed a loss of taste and a lingering metallic like residue in my mouth! The change in taste didn't start til after I had completed the 6 weeks and now I'm wondering how long this will last and if it will ever go away! So depressing

other reviews have been very helpful- I didn't experience any side effects until being on it for approx. 1 month and glad I knew this was coming. nasty taste in mouth at all times, eating anything feels like chewing cardboard. face is flushed all the time and mild rash on chest. not sure I can continue to take it.

The drug is great IF you have no side effects. But if you do your life will be made a living hell. I lost my taste after 60 days on the drug. I could not eat. I could not participate in life. Water tasted like saltwater. An overpowering bitter taste took over. I had extreme dry mouth. Had I stayed in that condition I would have taken my own life. Thankfully it wasn't permanent and I normalized after 12 weeks off the drug. But yeah, go ahead, if you think potentially permanently risking one of your organs or senses is okay so you can wear sandals, go for it. Read More Read Less

Im taking the Generic form of Lamisil (terbinifine 250 mg) once a day for now going on 6 weeks...seeing improvement and no side effects except for slight diarreah. MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR PRESCRIPTION AT WALMART ONLY $4 for a months supply! Walgreens and CVS wanted $86 for the same thing!! Phamacist at Walgreens took mme aside and said she felt unethical knowing Walmart only charges $4 for the same....Just saying :)

I was on this for one month i woke up with a small rash then stopped taking it within 2 weeks it became worse rash everywhere on my body i was so itchy like my skin was on fire - this medication is toxic i had a blood test and it showed slight liver abnormality Its been 4 weeks now and rash has only just started to go away stay away from lamisil! And if you do get this reaction stay away from using cortozone creams and tablets to cure the reaction and just find natural remedies. I wouldnt want anyone to go through what i have its horrible!Read More Read Less
