I had a tooth extraction, and developed a bacterial infection along with dry socket. I took 300mg capsules 4xday x 6 days. It cleared up the infection quickly. I had no stomach upset, even though I have an old stomach ulcer. I am a nurse, and have seen this drug prescribed many times for various bacterial conditions.. I would recommend it. I personally have many drug allergies, and had no problems...

Prescribed by my dentist before having a root canal retreated due to an abscess. After two days of taking the medication I began experiencing terrible stomach cramps and diarrhea. I called my dentist who advised me to stop taking it immediately. After looking the medicine up online I am shocked I was given it in the first place. I have a very sensitive stomach and am a small person. This medicine ...

I had my diseased Gallbladder removed and was given this med threw IV in the hospital, then in capsule form at home.I noticed by the third day after surgery, my toung, roof of my mouth and throat started to burn! And it was making me cough, which was very painful for my surgery sites!! It got very hard to eat or drink anything because of the burning and terrible taste...I stoped it my self and looked it up. I think it's oral thrush! Will never take this again!!! I didn't need another problem!

Please eat as much live active culture yogurt each day as you can and take a probiotic supplement with each dose if possible. I started the rx 3 days ago without knowing how harsh it was and had horrible stomach cramps after a "normal" dinner and dessert. The next day I called to see if I should get a different rx and they told me to continue on it but make sure I had a full stomach (the rx sheet says just a glass of water!). I went out and got Kefir, Stoneyfield yogurt, milk thistle (liver health supplement) and probiotic supplements and I feel a lot better. Still have a faint aftertaste in my mouth and can't eat real food or stomach hurts. Also I've read that you should continue to pump your body with probiotics for several weeks after finishing the rx. Hope this is helpful!Read More Read Less

Small green blue capsuls taken for two days, 8 of 28 is all I could stand after developing sever chest pain, feels like bolts are stuck in my breast bone(esophagus area). Called pharmacy, said to take pedcid, didnt say to stop. I called dentist and she had same problem, but didnt think I should stop. Called Endodontist who did the partial root canal 3 days ago, he said to stop taking it, said I had heartburn, Wow, never had anything like this before and since i've already had a month of amox and penicillin prior to root canal, should be OK. Root canal will be completed in four days. Gum infection still persists, but he said should subside after root canal complete. One day off the meds and still have partial esophagus irritation, but the bolts feeling seems to be subsiding. I am praying I do not get the rash and diarrhea. I wasnt told I should not lie down after taking this antibiotic, would have been helpful if Endo- dontist would have given me a heads up. His receptionist says he gives it to all his patients. Will never take it again.Read More Read Less

I had a tooth removed that could not be saved by a root canal. My dose was 4 x a day for 7 days. I have just taken my last dose today... I have had severe loose bowels since the 2nd day I started. Although I wasn't happy with the diarreaha; yet, I felt I needed to take this to clear up the infected gum since Penicillin did not work. I requested a stronger antibiotic due to the severity of the infection such as a ZPack; however, she prescribed Clindamycin which is the generic for Cleocin. Overall, if placed in the same situation, I would definitely avoid using this antibiotic again.Read More Read Less

I was given Cleocin for oral surgery to remove 4 wisdom teeth. I got diarrhea on day 4 of 5 while taking the drug. I called the oral surgeon and he told me to stop taking it. I did not get an oral infection, which was good, but a week later I started getting diarrhea and horrible stomach pains. After many bathroom trips, my bumm got very sore. I kept telling my oral surgeon and he just kept telling me to eat acidophilis yogurt. The dirrhea continued, plus gas, then a fever. The stomach pains were aweful, I got weak and lost my appetite. Finally, I went to my family doctor who wanted stool samples and blood. Good thing as my stool came back positive for C-Diff. I was then put on Flagyl. With in first 2-3 pills I felt better. Though Flagyl tastes bad, gave me a slight headache, and changes in taste, it's better than ending up in the hospital for C-Diff. If I ever hear "Cleocin or it's generic again, I will not take it, and ask for another antibiotic. I'd take a rash any day. Read More Read Less

DON'T EVER TAKE THIS DRUG!! I was given this for an infection I received after a root canal. It taste horrible, kills your esphogus no matter how much water you drink and feels like you have the worst heart burn for weeks after you've taken it...but the worst thing is the uncontrollable diarrhea you get from it!!! It eats the skin off your bum before you can even wipe it off and literally is non stoppable no matter where you are or if you just went to the bathroom. It's not the normal kind of diarrhea either its dark green blackish sticky sick smelling toxic waste!! It's absolutely gross and to have to deal with this after the pain of root canal...extremely painful indigestion...and to have to fear this stuff running out of you at any moment....no thank you!! All the antibiotics in the world there has to be a better one than this!!!!!Read More Read Less

I've been on Clindamycin HCL 150 Mg due to my dentist prescribing it. I have experienced a very painful heartburn. Then, I read all these comments and now know it was this medication. I thought you have to finish all the medication but I can't and now I don't want to break out in a rash like someone here described. I wish I could talk to a doctor about this.

After having a tooth pulled, I was given this med to take to prevent an infection from setting in. Day 2, I started getting the worse headache , feeling as if one side of my head was going to explode! I could not even function! Then on Day 3, my skin felt like it was crawling off my body, and broke out in a rash, and itched from head to toe digging till I bled! Followed ALL directions! Definately NOT A GOOD ANTIBIOTIC!!!!!!

IF YOU CAN TAKE ANYTHING ELSE - DO NOT TAKE THIS!!! I was put on Cleocin for a tooth infection, I don’t know if it worked or if the root canal is what fixed my tooth. I do know that I had the worst heartburn and nastiest taste in my mouth ever - so I stopped taking it 2 days early. I stopped taking it on Wednesday, when I woke up Saturday morning I was covered head to toe in itchy red welts & bumps! Buy Sunday I had to go to Urgent Care to get an Epinephrine & Steroid Shot – scared me silly and is very painful. Today is Monday, rash is better but not gone, I have to take a steroid pack, and I still have an awful taste in my mouth!Read More Read Less

After a simple wisdom tooth extraction, my Dentist prescribed Cleocin 150mg. After the first day, I developed horrible stomach aches, then unbearable heartburn, to the point is was hard to swallow even a sip of water. I called the pharmacy, and indeed this drug can cause these symptoms, and has even killed people. Don't risk it, it really hurt me! I hope to revover soon.

I had post operative infection after bunionectomy. Though I've had trouble with antibiotics before the surgeon prescribed Cleocin. A few days after I finished meds, I started having bloody diarrhea. I had a bad feeling from just reading the "warning sheet" that comes with this stuff. I had C-diff. I was sick for several weeks and finally hospitalized. The initial treatment for the C-diff didn't work so I ended up on another VERY expensive antibiotic -- thank God I had insurance with a maximum co-pay. I honestly thought I was going to die from that stuff. Very nasty. The medicine itself though never upset my stomach like other meds do and it rid my body of every bacteria in it...good and bad. It cleared up the chronic sinusitus I'd had for years and the post op infection. While it's a wonder drug if you haven't been exposed to C-diff -- if you have, which unfortunately you likely won't know until your done with this medicine -- it's a nightmare drug.Read More Read Less

I was on this med for a sinus infection that did not clear up with Levaquin or Doxycycline. This med gave me HORRIBLE heartburn! I could only eat small amounts (less than 1/4 cup) of either applesauce or yogurt. I probably only took in 500 calories/day. It was so bad that I even had a hard time drinking water, which means less trips to the bathroom. After 7 days, I stopped taking the med. It has now been almost 5 weeks, and I'm still trying to get my GI tract back on track.

I was prescribed this to take three times a day for a skin infection. It's not as convenient to have to take three times a day but I wrote it down to keep track. On the 10th and last day, I developed a rash from my chest down my arms which spread on each successive day. When it got to my ankles and feet on the 4th day of spreading, it became extremely itchy so much so that I couldn't sleep at night at all. I had to go on steroids to get rid of it which took another 3 or 4 days. I have been advised not to ever take this drug again.Read More Read Less
