I had a tooth extraction, and developed a bacterial infection along with dry socket. I took 300mg capsules 4xday x 6 days. It cleared up the infection quickly. I had no stomach upset, even though I have an old stomach ulcer. I am a nurse, and have seen this drug prescribed many times for various bacterial conditions.. I would recommend it. I personally have many drug allergies, and had no problems...

Prescribed by my dentist before having a root canal retreated due to an abscess. After two days of taking the medication I began experiencing terrible stomach cramps and diarrhea. I called my dentist who advised me to stop taking it immediately. After looking the medicine up online I am shocked I was given it in the first place. I have a very sensitive stomach and am a small person. This medicine ...

I was prescribed this for tonsillitis. Less than a day on the medicine I got extreme diarrhea and stomach/intestinal cramps that lasted for a week. I was prescribed the medicine for 10 days but on day 5 went to the doctor for the diarrhea and he told me to quit taking the medicine. It took 2 days for the diarrhea to stop. I couldn't get out of the bathroom. This is the worst medicine I have ever taken and will NEVER take it again. It's been 2 weeks now and I'm still having trouble from time to time. Prescribed to me for gum infection in my mouth. Medicine caused nausea/gagging and extreme diarreah. I also had excess urination. So if taking this pill, have a bathroom nearby and a room spray for the diarreah. Get generic form, it's cheaper and just as effective. This antibiotic will NOT give you a yeast infection if you are a female, like Amoxxicillian does. This RX changed my eating habits while on it because of the nausea. But as soon as meds were done, my eating and bowel habits returned to normal. What kind of scientist would create a drug to cause nausea, diarreah and loss of appetite? There has GOT to be an easier way.Read More Read Less

It caused severe stomach pain. It is worse than labor pains. My intestines were very inflamed that i can not stand to have it touched at all. I have been in bed for 3 days with the pain. I do not wish this on my worse enemy on thier best day. I have a high pain tolerance and this tops it all.

Before i took this med. I read the reviews and almost did not take it based on what people said. I decided to try it anyway and very glad i did. I did not experience any of the side effects people said. I took a few steps to prevent possible effects such as taking it with food, and eating two yogurts a day with live cultures to keeps things balanced in my stomach. The infection was cleared and it worked. I had more stress effects from the reviews. Follow what I did and you should be fine.

50yr old female. Generic Cleocin post root canal and a tooth extraction. My Rx 150mg cap x3 orally per day for 10 days. I took it as Rx as required except near the last 3 days when I simply forgot to take it. I tended to be 2-4hrs off sched. With that said, initially the drug made me a bit nauseous 20min after taking it and that lasted about an hr. Nothing serious. I did not emit, however. I took it with soymilk, a meal, and sometimes with just about 6oz of water and not food. No problems. My jaw was swollen pretty badly from the dental work and took until day 5 to notice a reduction in the swelling. Today is day 11 and it is still noticeably swollen. At about day 6, I had headaches, and a noticed a light rash on my face in the swollen area. At day 11 (today), Rx is done and I see a rash on the other side of my neck that looks like little white head pimples. These were not there yesterday. I also noticed for since day 8, increases in my body temp during the night and anxiety type reactions (increase heart rate for no particular reason). Now, someone might argue that I am 50 and this might be coincidental (premenopausal), but I have not previous signs of this. I am hoping that the headaches, night heat, and nausea will cease now that the Rx is done.Read More Read Less

took cleocin 150mg 4 times a day for eczema patch that got infected on my arm. I had a thumper headache on day 3 & 4 on med & had body aches & horrible fevers. after day 5 I stopped it. I developed a rash the day after stopping it. the rash is like hives but smaller & havent stop being itchy! & its day 11 after stopping cleocin. the rash started on the back of my hands on veins & spread to my elbows to my shoulders to my neck & scalp to my lower back, buttocks & thighs, front of knees & legs & on top of my feet. Feels like my skin is crawling with ants & im still getting new spots. I am still having severe night fevers where the sweat is beading on my face, chest & body. I am also allergic to keflex & penicillin. nothing seems to elevate the itchiness. went to docs on day 2 after rash developed priscribed phenergan 10mg & novasone cream 0.1% that did nothing, went back again two days later got prescribed prednisolone tabs 25mg & now on my last day on the tabs & nothing has changed. the phenergan & prednisolne tabs are not a good mix! made me spacey & felt sicker! but the rash is still here. 3 days ago found sudocrem & detol baths are healing the old spots & stopping them from getting infected but are still itchy as. Only good news was the eczema patch has healed! but would rather patch than whole body!Read More Read Less

I had a root canal done about one month ago at which time my gums around the tooth became swollen. my dentist gave me a 10 day dose of amoxicillin which seemed to reduce the swelling for a few days but then it returned. my dentist gave me a new 10 day dose of clindamycin which i have taken for 5 days now. it made my stomach a little uneasy and had given me a very slight head throp when i bent over to pick anything up off of the floor. my stools are are loose but not too bad. i have had to pee 5 times during the night instead of my normal 2 (but i am drinking extra amounts of water as suggested). had some minor chills and then some minor too hot feelings in bed but not too bad. i decided to skip taking any in the middle of the night since i did not want to stay up for 10-30 minutes before going back to bed (this has helped my system i think). i am taking 3 300mg doses per day for 10 days. Noticed some minor sore muscles each morning when i wake up which seem to wear off. I think it is working and i am getting better. Thank you to all the others who made comments which help people understand what this drug can do. I hope those who have had bad reactions recover asap. my suggestion is to not take it right before bed or in the middle of the night. and eating a little yogurt seems to help settle my stomach when taking this Rx.Read More Read Less

THIS MEDICINE CAUSES A SEVERE ITCHY RASH AND SEVERE HEARTBURN. I was given this medication when diagnosed with a peritonsillar abscess. My condition presented as a very severe sore throat on one side of my throat. Actually, my tonsils were removed when I was a child. My condition improved immediately and then the sore throat came back on the other side. I experienced severe heartburn while taking the med but the instructions said to finish the whole prescription, so I continued to take the medication as the sore throat had not gone away. I just put up with the heartburn. After 6 days of the 7-day dosage I broke out in a severe red, hot, itchy rash all over my body, scalp and arms and I still have the heartburn. I am going to a different doctor today to try to get some relief for this rash. I also have diarrhea and the beginnings of a vaginal yeast infection. Do not take this medication. Read More Read Less

The horrible side effects of this medication are worse than the MRSA. I am on day 7 of 14. After reading all of the reviews, I think I am done with it. It is 4:00a.m. and the heartburn is like nothing I have ever felt. Stomach pain, teeth numb, headache, dizzy. Thank the Lord I work at home.

After spending 9 days in the hospital on IV Vancomycin and Rocephin) and having surgery to drain the abscess, I was prescribed Cleocin (300 mg 3x/day for 7 days) along with Bactrim DS upon my discharge for the subcutaneous infection in my face. Although I feel do feel a bit tired and dizzy, the medicine seems to be working. I have been drinking plenty of water and eating greek yogurt every day and have not yet experienced any stomach problems and I have IBS, so I expected the worst. My advice to anyone who is prescribed this medicine is to speak to your pharmacist about possible side effects and warnings as that is what they went to school for - your doctors did not. Also, each person is unique as is each bacteria - you may have been prescribed this because other antibiotics may not work against the infection. Before being prescribed Cleocin and before my 9 day hospital stay, they tried Keflex and Levoquin, neither of which had any effect on my infection.Read More Read Less

Was given this for a sinus infection that I have had for a few months. Was treated a month ago with Ceftin. It did not work so Dr. gave me Cleocin. I have been on it for 6 days and have the worst heartburn and esophagus burning that I have ever had. I have taken many antibiotics because I get frequent sinus infections. (had 3 sinus surgeries) If you are prescribed this med, just be aware of the possible side effects and do not continue to take it if you are having bad side effects. Now I have to wait for my stomach and esophagus to calm down before I start Levaquin. So I hope my sinus infection doesn't get worse while waiting.Read More Read Less

This medicine Is HOORIBLE! I was given this to fight a chrinic celluitis infection of the lower leg and now I'm having constant stomach pain, low grade fever, loss of appetite and a slight headache. I'd rather have the celluitis back. At least I knew what I was in for.

I was prescribed clindamycin to prevent bacterial infection after having a root canal redone. Took 300 mg immediately then 150 mg every 6 hours. On day 3 I woke up with diarrhea. I'm very frustrated and frightened because on the drug info sheet and in these user reviews there all all these warnings about serious digestive problems, but they say not to take ant-acids etc. and to call your doc if the diarrhea persists for more than 3 days. so...I'm supposed to have diarrhea untreated for 3 days before I can get help and at that point my life may be in danger?? This is ridiculous! I'm going to call my doc, but I'm worried about what he's going to say! I hope I'm not in serious medical trouble.Read More Read Less

Easy enough to take. I always have heartburn, so no clue whether this is making it worse or not. My biggest complaint is the nasty taste in my mouth. Reminds me of the aftertaste from grapefruit juice, but much stronger and won't go away. Only thing that will stop the taste is drinking carbonated beverages with a stronger flavor (Coke, Dr. Pepper, anything non-citrus). I'm taking this due to a pilondal cyst/abscess (an infection in a portion of my tailbone/spine) and it seems to be working for that.Read More Read Less
