I take this for polycystic ovarian syndrome. It literally changed my life for the better in so many ways. Dealing with stomach upset is most definitely an issue but this is totally outweighed by the positive health effects.

I have beeb taking this medication for 5 days now and I hate it. I feel tired all day, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upsets. The worst side effect is the nausea. I hope the side effects go away soon. I don't know how much more of this I can take...

I was on this drug in addition to metformin for about 4 months and gained almost 20 pounds. My doctor finally told me that weight gain was a MAJOR side effect of this drug. As I have RA I am trying to stay smaller and now I am stuck with this weigh that does not want to go away. I will say my sugars have not been as stable with out it but I have gone to strictly insulin now and it is helping.

I have been experiencing severe constipation rather hardened dry stool causing difficulty in excretion. I am thinking to discontinue Glucophage oral.

I have been on this medication for years, and it has worked well for me. I lost almost 40 pounds when i started it, with a low carb diet. i also found i had alot of energy. i did, however, have a really hard time with the stomach problems. i went off it a few times because of that but i find the benefits are worth it.

Diagnosed with Type 2 Dec 7, '10, started 500 mg/day Dec 8, have lost 17 pounds in 3 months with diet change, blood sugar average has dropped below 120, A1c of 6.0 after 3 months, no side effects. Energy level improved a little, eyesight a little less fuzzy, in general feel better and under control, but need to get more active. I've been pleased with the drug, it only costs $4.00/mo. Am 59 yrs old, 5'7, currently 200 lbs. My cholesterol and triglycerides even dropped by about a third.

2005 diabetes 2.take 2000 a day. i am convinced this is making me car sick and dizzy.i know b/c when i was off of it for 5 days, i had a perfectly great car ride to the beach. i tested it by reading, leaning over while moving. got to the event, and said 'what is differnt?" Im not car sick, arriving at an event feeling odd. i also tink i have very bad joint pain with this. this same time period i found myself running up some stairs and back. many trips i miss out on. and any kind of a ship cruise is out of the question. any one else. love to hear from you. also in 06 i was in hosp for 5 days, and on insulin shots. tho it was a difficult surgery, i ahd this underlying stability. i think it was the shots. anyone else? don't want to start shots but prob want to change metformin. what else have you used. glad to find this posting.Read More Read Less

I've been on this medication for 3 weeks and some of the side effects were awful for me. Had to take 2 doses per day w/food. Talk about nausea, diarrhea, a lil lightheaded, being tired all day long and that was for the first 3 days. Then started 1 dose per day w/meal. Same symptoms, being nausea was the worst. So I started taking it at dinner time so I won't have that nausea feeling all day. Well I was sick before I go to bed and sometimes in the morning. My meds was just changed to Glucotrol so I'll see how that works.Read More Read Less
