This medication works well with minimal side effects. It mutes the pain levels down to a point where you can concentrate on daily activities without feeling "drugged".... There are two very important points to this medication that cannot be ignored without side effects. Overdosage: From all the blogs I've found, overdosage often results in sleeplessness. Headaches and stomach cramps are a...

I only gave one star, because iv never taken this medication. ( yet) Celebrex 200 mg for a year, I can get out of bed and be somewhat normal, but have not walk more then 50 yards without pain. ( L4-L5-S1-Hip problems) nine injectings over the three years all NSADS, PT twice. Can this be taken with Celebrex? Has anyone taken both together?

I fear withdrawl reactions, however I do not take as much as I should and try to take less than necessary, to avoid the reaction to extended uise. However, it does work very well as the 5 stars indicate, LM

Ultram/Tramadol is a true wonder drug for my recurring back pain (due to thoracic spinal cord compression). I had tried Vicodin but found it made me too loopy and switched to Tramadol instead. The pain relief is amazing and I am able to work a full day without any issue. It also helps suppress anxiety, but this is a side-effect of the medicine and not an original indication of its use. The only complaint, albeit a small one, is that it can cause insomnia. Not a heart-pounding, restless type of insomnia, but a "very mentally alert" type. I have countered that effect by taking the medicine in the morning so that it does not interfere with sleep. My dosage is 50mg as needed (usually 5-7 times a week). Tramadol in conjunction with physical therapy is helping get my back healthy again. Tramadol is a wonderful drug when used properly and I highly recommend it for those who suffer from recurring moderate to severe pain.Read More Read Less

I can testify that allergic reactions can happen with one use. I wound up in emergency a half hour after taking one tablet. (This, even though I've never had any trouble with codeine or morphine.) My tongue, throat, cheeks and lips swelled, and I briefly had trouble breathing. This passed quickly, thank God, but I'm glad I was checked out anyway. (I was put on antihistamines for a couple of days, just in case.) Might want to test this one only when other people are around...

I have taken Tramadol for 6 years for O.A. and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, just added siatica (?). It has been a miracle for me. I am able to work like I used to when I was younger. My attitude has improved thanks to the reduced pain stimulus going to my brain, I believe. Am I addicted??? Maybe but if that is what it takes to be able to maintain this quality of life, I will be an addict!!!! People think that i a chipper and always in a good mood because I am!!!! Not haveing to live with that pain daily will make anyone happy!!!! I do take loratab 7.5 when needed for break thru pain, sometimes I still trying to act like a kid because I feel no pain!!!! For me it is a Godsend!!!Read More Read Less

I felt that this medicine helped my pain. I had taken it a few times when I broke out in a very fine red rash and the itching was terrible. I was told not to continue taking the medicine as it has codeine in it. I am allergic to codeine. The dr. did not bother to tell me it is a directive of codeine. Can you comment????

This is quite possibly the worst pain reliever I have used. I took 50mg and it not only made me completely drowsy and unable to function, but it also upset my stomach terribly. I was nauseous for 4 hours and unable to "sleep off" the effects because I had to get up to vomit frequently.

I was given a prescription for Ultram by my orthopedic doctor for knee pain related to osteoarthritis and previous injury to that knee. It was very effective in treating the pain, and he told me it did not have dependency associated with it. I found that after 18 mos. I body was dependent. I was trying to stop taking it and went into complete physical withdrawl (sweats, irritability, nausea, cramping, aggitation). I am now weaning myself off the drug 20-30% at a time, so I can continue to work and function. It is not a drug I'd recommend to others without complete information about dependency, side effects, risks, and benefits. Read More Read Less

I asked the ER doc for a non-narcotic pain reliever and I received Ultram. It took care of the incision pain, but I was unable to sleep if I took a dose to close to bedtime. I do want to add, it did seem to make me feel "good, happy" but not in an opiate kind of way

I WAS GIVEN THIS DRUG AFTER BOTH MY KNEE SURGERIES. i WAS ON OXYCOTIN FIRST THEN THIS. I LIKE THE MEDS, BUT THE ONLY THING IS I AM ADDICTED TO IT NOW. IVE BEEN ON IT FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND NOW IM BEING WEANED OFF. I TRIED TO STOP MYSELF, BUT I HAD REALLY BAD WITHDRAWL SYMPTOMS. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE GETTING ON THIS MED B/C YOU WILL GET ADDICTED IF YOU TAKE IT FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME.

I suffer from 1 blown disc and 3 bulging discs, recently had a spinal fusion in my cervical area. I am on narco, zoloft and now my doc wants to add ultram. I have read many things about seizures and to not use this drug with an antidepressant. Has anyone been in the same situation?

I love this medicine for any type of pain. It's not habit-forming and it is faster at working than most OTC pain meds. I have a bad knee and cysts in my wrist and it helps relieve the pain within a few minutes. I only take one a day or whenever the pain gets too bad.

Absolutely love this medicine. Highly recommend it. Does NOT make me feel high like other pain meds. I take lorcet only when needed for breakthrough pain. Have low back pain, leg pain/aches & arthritis. 50 mgs 2-3 times a day as needed. I see that some of you feel it helps with depression. I totally agree. I haven't been diagnosed with depression but Ultram absolutely makes my moods better (maybe because no more pain). I actually feel like things I haven't wanted to do in a long time. Lorcets only last couple of hours and pain back. Ultram lasts much longer. At first it would keep me up at night, but not any more and I don't feel tired. Read More Read Less
