No problems experienced and infection cleared. I think all the people who have had complications associated with this drug need to remember that it is a drug, and all drugs have possible side effects, that is why there are warnings documented. The percentage of individuals worldwide who have complications linked with this drug is very small. Anytime you take any kind of pharmaceutical there is a r...

I had some pain when I urinated and in my kidneys. After submitting a sample of my urine. He said I have a kidney infection, so he prescribed me Cipro. I did see the warning from my pharmacy, but I was too stupid to do a thorough research before I took it. Once I took it beside one time diarrhea, but 10 days after I finished the 7-day course, I started having pain and weakness in my arms. My knees...

Clears up UTIs in a hurry! I just wish there wasn't so much drinking of water involved!

Prescribed multiple times for UTIs (I get frequent UTIs due to urinary retention) It has always worked well for me with no noticeable side effects. The infection clears up for me in a few days but I always take the full course. Normally this is what I request when I go to the doctor because it doesn't cause my stomach to have issues like Amoxicillin does.

Please don't take this drug unless your doctor cannot prescribe an alternative antibiotic. Take it as a last resort. I too had a bad reaction to this drug after 1 dose....tendonitis of the knees and hands. And I also had terrible anxiety and nightmares for several days even though I stopped after 1 dose. I believe it was a form of fluoride poisoning. This drug should not be on the market, as there is no way to tell who is going to have a bad reaction to it. The only thing that helped me was homemade bone broth. Look up recipes online. 2 1/2 years later, I still have problems with my knees and fingers, but the bone broth helps with this and with my overall joint, tendon, muscle health. My local health-food store sells the bones. Try to get organic, grass fed ones.Read More Read Less

I was given an IV injection of Cipro as part of my pre-surgery process, and within seconds I began to itch intensely on the hand where the needle was, and rapidly spreading up my forearm. Drug was discontinued and a substitute used, but the reaction continued. Upon coming out from anesthesia, I began severe cramping in my abdomen and sides, similar to the pain of kidney stones. My urologist could not be located by surgery center staff, so the only treatment I received was 5 separate pain killer injections to attempt to "get ahead" of the increasing pain. After approximately 90 minutes, the pain was managed. I continued to get sharp pains, gradually decreasing in intensity and length, after I was sent home (the urologist was never contacted). Please note that this antibiotic was prescribed and given for POSSIBLE infection, not a definite infection. The worst part has been learning about this drug's toxicity and danger only after, and not being informed before, on how dicey it is. I am extremely disturbed that official literature and information only recommends it as a treatment of last resort, and yet it was administered to me with no more concern than if it was aspirin.Read More Read Less

I took this drug for 3 days for a UTI, it caused me to have 4 soft movements a day, gave me gas, made me dizzy and overall I felt sick. My doctor switched me to another antinbody but by this time the damage was done. It has been 3 weeks since I 3 pills and I am still feeling "out-of-sort". My stomach is not right and I have little appetite. Cipro really messed me up.

Took it for a week for a UTI. A week later, my knees went out. Debilitating pain, knee caps slipping out of place, extreme aching upon sitting, couldn't exercise, crunching feeling when starting to walk or turn, extreme swelling of my knees, jaw and teeth ached. Looked at the top side effects only after as I never have any problems with meds. Saw "Erosion of tendons/cartilage". Knees are permanently damaged. I have gained weight because it is impossible to exercise the way I used to or I am laid up for days, experience swelling and pain with my knees constantly, lack of blood flow and energy to my legs below my knees, bone-on-bone pain. Candidate for knee surgery. All after taking this dangerous and damaging nightmare drug. If you take this drug, you are playing Russian Roulette with your health. There are Class Action suits against this drug. Say NO to your doctor.Read More Read Less

DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG it destroyed my life. Before I took it for uti, I was an active functioning independent adult. For the last 8 months I have suffered numerous new symptoms including: altered gait, need for cane, leg collapses, spasms in arms and legs, electric jolts in back causing limbs to flail out, vision problems, brain fog, cognitive functioning loss, need 8 root canals (normally healthy teeth) due to nerve damage, speech altered, foreign accent sounding now, stutter, breathing spasms, migraines that last for weeks, low immune system causing more infections, rashes, depression (no duh) anxiety and more. I have not been able to work. ALL THOSE SYMPTOMS CAME AFTER CIPRO! I was healthy and active before. Do NOT take any flouoquinolin antibiotics. Read More Read Less

Bad reaction. After a couple of days taking pills, was rushed to ER. Severe head itching, swollen tongue, trembling and rash around stomach. Stayed at hospital for five hours to received life saving medical health. Since, has developed food allergies. Do not take this medication, it will forever change your immune system. Never had any allergies before this reaction.

Twice I came in contact with Cipro and twice I suffered Pelvic Prolapse. This, because I lived in the same household as the two people taking the drug. I have required two surgeries to remedy the damage. This drug not only damages, those who take it, but clearly can harm those in close proximity. I, now and have for the past two years, suffer constant back pain, that I consider a direct result from Cipro.

Shortly after taking Cipro I could barely get out of bed. I had tendinitis in almost all of my joints. It was excruciating. It's been 4 1/2 months and my knees and shoulders are still causing me a lot of pain. Cipro is toxic and wish I had known at the time that it was black labeled. BE CAREFUL!!!

WARNING - In my opinion, Cipro is poison and should be off the market. I had all kinds of problems with my tendons all over my body after taking this horrible stuff. The tendon problems started about two weeks after taking Cipro. First my shoulder/upper arm "popped" and I could hardly move it, then in ankle and could hardly walk, then in hip area and couldn't sit without a donut cushion, etc., etc. This went on for months, just affecting different parts of my body. Then, I read a lot about it and it has a Black Box Warning for pharmacists, but there needs to be a large red bold warning on it for patients to clearly see. After four years, I still feel it has left some damage to my nerves and tendons. For me, the benefits of this drug is far less, than the lasting damage it has done to my body. Read More Read Less

Omgosh! I was bleeding pee every 15 minutes after 2 doses of Cipro the bleeding I stopped. I have some side effects~anxiety, insomnia, nausea and headache. I'd say it was a good trade off. I know it's not for everyone but it did the trick for me!

I am fortunate to be able to take Cipro. I realize that others have had problems but so far so good for me. The first time I took it was around the year 2001. Have taken it a few times since for lung (bronchiectasis) and UTI infections. I also tolerate other fluoroquinolone medications as well.
