I have insomnia and can't sleep without a sleeping pill. I'm also an addict so I'm not allowed any strong narcotics. Trazodone has worked very well for me. I've been taking it for over a year now. I started at 100mg and am now up to the max of 300mg/night. I will have to find another pill once this starts to become ineffective. But it puts me to sleep nicely and I don't feel anything linger the ne...
I have terrible insomnia and always searching for something to help me with this. I have tried this several times over the course of a year and did not like the way it made me feel the next day. Also did nothing for my sleep. Thought I would try it again one last time to see if it would be different this time. No. Couldn't sleep and next day I felt like I had a terrible hangover all day. I had no ...

Even though this medication is prescribed for sleep I do not get what I consider to be full benefit from this drug. It still takes 2-3 hours for me to fall asleep and I only sleep about 5 hours total. This is in spite of the dosage being raised several times.

Finding the right doseage is the key to using this. Most use 50mg or 100mg but I've found that 150mg gives me a great restful sleep of at least 8 hours. Thus far, I have had no serious side effects.

Started this drug after someone broke in to my home while I slept and attempted rape. Been on the drug about 15 years and recently tried to wean off just to see if I could sleep without it. I did not consider myself depressed but got depressed and had horrible nights of NO sleep after not taking it for two weeks. Am back on it now, 150 mg. nightly, and feel much better. Still have trouble "turning my brain off" at night, but once I do get to sleep, I stay asleep all night. Best drug I have ever taken for sleep. Read More Read Less

i have been taking 50mg a night for 2 weeks and it is not doing anything to help me fall asleep. I will take it and lay in bed for hours before I finally drift off to sleep. Going to give it another 2 weeks because it can take up to 4 weeks to be fully in your system. That's when you know whether you are going to benefit from the medication or not. So far it has been a NOT.

I've only been using 50mg for 4 days now, but it takes a long while to kick in (2-4hrs) and then leaves me very groggy all day. I've tried taking it at 10 pm, but didn't kick in until 2 am, take at 1:30 am, not kicking in until 4:30 am. Then I sleep till 9 or 10 am, but can't wake up enough to get up, so fall back asleep immediately and sleep till 12 to 1 pm. Get up to eat something, but groggy again around 3 or 4 pm. Will then sleep till 6 or 7 pm. Am going to call dr. Instead of falling asleep but not staying asleep, now I'm not falling asleep but staying asleep too much! My quality of sleep is much improved though.Read More Read Less

Before taking this my daughter would often be very restless and unable to sleep at night. She is ADHD and on meds for that. She now can fall asleep faster and has less restless nights.
